MAEKLONG-MARKET
Maeklong Market, nel comune di Damnoensadavk, a circa 60 km a sud ovest di Bangkok, è uno dei fenomeni più straordinari e strani al mondo: un mercato sui binari del treno!
Le bancarelle e le merci sono disposte ordinatamente lungo i binari e il mercato si snoda seguendone il tracciato.
Tutto il mercato si svolge all’ombra di tendoni che riparano dal sole merci e persone, casse piene di frutta, spezie e fiori invadono i binari.
E’ un mercato locale prevalentemente alimentare dove però trovi di tutto dai prodotti della campagna ai biglietti della lotteria, ancora, per fortuna, poco frequentato dal turismo di massa più attratto dal vicino mercato galleggiante di Domnaen Suduak.
Il treno della linea Bangkok - Maeklong passa 8 volte al giorno regolarmente annunciato dagli altoparlanti della stazione.
All’arrivo del treno merci banchi e tendoni vengono smantellati con organizzazione svizzera e seraficità tailandese. Tutto avviene senza fretta.
Molti mercanti si sono attrezzati con banchi a ruote che scorrono su rudimentali guide metalliche, altri si limitano a spostare ceste e cestoni al limite del binario.
Il treno passa, e in pochi istanti si riaprono i tendoni, e il mercato torna alla sua normale operatività.
